Rainwear Cleaning & Waterproofing Services

Your technical outerwear is engineered to perform — but that performance depends on a clean, functioning DWR (Durable Water Repellency) finish. Over time, body oils, dirt, and repeated washing cause DWR to break down, and water that should bead and roll off starts soaking in instead. At Super Cleaners USA, we restore that protection through professional cleaning and re-waterproofing treatments that bring your gear back to factory-level performance.

What Is DWR and Why Does It Matter?

DWR is the invisible coating applied to the outer face fabric of performance rainwear and technical shells. When it's working correctly, water beads up and rolls off the surface. When it degrades — which happens naturally with wear and washing — the outer fabric "wets out," becoming heavy and cold, and the jacket's breathability suffers even if the underlying waterproof membrane is still intact. Re-activating or reapplying DWR restores both water resistance and breathability.

Our Process

We start by inspecting the garment for damage, soiling, and the current condition of the DWR finish. The jacket is then cleaned using a method appropriate for the shell fabric and membrane — removing dirt, oils, and residue that prevent DWR from working. After cleaning, we apply a professional-grade DWR treatment and heat-activate it for maximum bonding and longevity. The result is a jacket that beads water the way it did when it was new.

FAQ: Rainwear Cleaning & Re-Waterproofing

The clearest sign is when water stops beading on the surface and instead soaks into the outer fabric, making it feel heavy and cold. If your jacket is clean but still wetting out, re-waterproofing is the fix.
No. We use treatments compatible with Gore-Tex, eVent, Pertex, and other technical membranes. Our process is designed specifically for performance outerwear.
It depends on how heavily the garment is used. Light recreational use may only need treatment every 1–2 seasons; gear used frequently in wet conditions may benefit from treatment once a season.
Yes. Burberry and similar luxury outerwear require a different approach than technical performance gear, and we adjust our process accordingly to protect the fabric, lining, and construction of the garment.
Sometimes. Dirt and oil contamination can suppress DWR, and a thorough clean can partially restore beading. In many cases, though, the DWR itself needs to be refreshed or reapplied after cleaning — which is what our full treatment includes.
With proper care — including avoiding fabric softeners and tumble-drying on low heat — a professional DWR treatment typically lasts one to two seasons of regular use.
